For Day 1 I’ve started with something easy and in true Oriental style – a healthy Pork and Sesame Salad with soy and ginger dressing. This takes less than 10 minutes to cook, see how easy it is below:
Marinate meat and chop vegetables
Place on grill, sit back and watch your food cook away, it takes less than 10 minutes
Prepare salad ingredients and dressing
Done! Your mouth-watering and healthy Asian Pork and Sesame Salad
Asian Pork Sesame Salad
200g pork neck fillet, cut into thin slices
Dash sesame oil
Dash soy sauce
1 red chilli, sliced fine
Salt and Pepper
8 shitake or regular mushrooms, sliced thin
1/2 carrot, cut into thin strips
2 spring onions cut into 2 inch pieces
6 cherry or baby plum tomatoes, cut in half
1/4 cucumber cut into strips
10 mange tout
1 small cos lettuce or another crunchy lettuce leaf
2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
Dash of oil (any non flavoured oil such as rapeseed or peanut oil)
2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp minced ginger
- Combine pork, soy, sesame oil, chilli, salt and pepper in a bowl and mix well.
- Combine ingredients for dressing.
- Add a small amount of oil to your palm and rub carrots, mushrooms and mange tout until lightly covered.
- Turn teppanyaki grill to heat setting 2.
- Add vegetable and pork to grill.
- Share lettuce between bowls.
- When vegetables and pork are cooked – approx. 5 – 8 minutes, remove and layer onto salad, followed by tomatoes and cucumber. Drizzle with dressing. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
